Hello, this is my BGI “Beat” blog for the Using the Social Web For Social Change class at Bainbridge Graduate Institute. For this beat, I’m focusing on the intersection of community economic development and religion, as they relate to local food systems, housing, and cooperatives. Here is my philosophy for creating this space:
I am building bridges to create compassionate, diverse communities. When we resolve conflicts, we strengthen our understanding of best practices toward collective well-being.
More to come…

About mikegbgi
I am an MBA candidate at Bainbridge Graduate Institute and an affordable housing developer and technical assistance provider. I build bridges to create compassionate, diverse communities. When we resolve conflicts, we strengthen our understanding of best practices toward collective well-being. My focus is in the intersection of economic development, local food systems, housing, neighborhoods, cooperatives, compassion, complementarity, and "the agronomics of people." When I described your blog recently, I called it about it as “intersection of economic community development and faith” rather then religion. Was I incorrect and faith isn’t strong enough of a word?
While religion and faith can’t exactly be used interchangeably, I would say both are correct. I will discuss the intersection of community economic development and faith, and often the discussion of the faith component will include elements of religion. Religion, faith, and spirituality all impact approaches to economic development and can all become vehicles for building bridges to strengthen community.
